As a session guitarist and bass player, our resident head composer Paul Sumpter has worked on a huge wealth of live, studio and broadcast projects, playing on recordings for labels and publishers such as Geffen, BMG Zomba, Sony ATV, Universal and One Louder. He’s toured with artists such as Status Quo, The Feeling (Universal), Marillion, REO Speedwagon (Sony) and The Selecter (2Tone), and played with the likes of Will Young, Brooke X (Xenomania), Soul II Soul, Snowblind (Independiente), Nicole Russo (Brand New Heavies), Saint Faith, Ruby Galliers (Sony), The Switches (Atlantic) and Echostrings (Novatunes).
He's also had the pleasure of working with numerous great producers including Mark Wallis (U2, Travis, The Smiths), James Reynolds (Calvin Harris, Snoop Dogg, Tinie Tempah, Tinchy Stryder, The Gorrilaz, Jessie J), Gregg Jackman (Prince, The Jam, Seal, Cher) and Brian Higgins (Xenomania - Girls Aloud, Gabriella Cilmi, Franz Ferdinand, Pet Shop Boys) at studios such as Abbey Road, Good Luck and Sawmill's.
Live Radio credits include Absolute Radio (Pete & Geoff Show), Capital FM, BBC6 Music (Gideon Coe Show) and tracks for Kerrang, Mercia FM and Galaxy 105. As well as playing on a wealth of TV shows including Australian Idol, MTV Exposed, Good Morning America, Property Ladder, Top Gear, The Farm and This Morning (ITV1), Paul has recorded guitar and bass (alongside more exotic instruments such as sitar, bouzouki and ukulele) for countless broadcast adverts for clients as diverse as Mercedes, Guinness, HSBC, Coca-Cola, Levis, Kenco, Samsung and Nike.
Paul has toured France, Germany, Africa, Belgium, Holland, Italy and the UK extensively with various bands and artists and performed at venues such as the Hammersmith Apollo, Glastonbury Festival, Birmingham Symphony Hall, The HMV Forum, Blenheim Palace, The Hanover Grand, the NEC National Music Show, Village Underground, Claridge’s and The Grosvenor Hotel amongst many others. He obtained the only Class 1 degree in Popular Music Studies, awarded in his year from the University of Leeds University, and has previously taught guitar, bass and music theory both privately and at music schools and workshop schemes across London.
